Job for Startups

Founding Startup Science Innovation Partner

Startup Science has built the most comprehensive, integral, whole systems model of how startups operate and what determines their success and failure. We’ve backed up and iterated our model over the last 8 years with data from over 35,000 companies, collaborated with top experts in the field and researchers from top universities around the world, worked hands-on with hundreds of startups and released many critically acclaimed research reports that have been covered in the WSJ, HBR, PBS and the Economist, and have been downloaded and seen by millions of people. The reports also became a part of the entrepreneurship curriculum at over 100 Universities including Stanford, Wharton, and UC Berkeley.

While we’ve received a constant stream of requests from startups for us to support them in a more in-depth, hands-on and on-going way, we’ve never prioritized developing the organizational capacity to serve these needs.

Now we’re looking to hire a Startup Science Innovation Partner to lead this effort.

Our research has shown that most startups fail primarily due to self-destruction and improper allocation of their time, energy and money. A few key shifts in perspective can be life-altering and completely game-changing.

Our goal is to get the core ideas, frameworks, methodologies and principles behind Startup Science out to the tens of thousands of startups whose ultimate trajectory could be significantly impacted by our work.

We’ve taken many of the cutting edge systems and methodologies in the startup world such as: the Lean Startup, Customer Development, the Business Model Canvas, Growth Hacking, Teal Organizations, Holacracy and more, and integrated them into a unified, comprehensive, coherent and cohesive model called Startup Science that enables us to:

  • Diagnose a startup’s core problems incredibly quickly

  • Give founders a clear framework for navigating extreme uncertainty in order to create a precise plan of action

  • Train them in a new yet intuitive language for how to think about their most important strategic decisions and how to communicate this clearly to their team members and other stakeholders.

To our awareness, Startup Science goes significantly above and beyond anything being currently offered in the marketplace.

Job For Corporates

Founding Senior Innovation Consultant

Startup Science has built the most comprehensive, integral, whole systems model of how startups operate and what determines their success and failure. We’ve backed up and iterated our model over the last 8 years with data from over 35,000 companies, collaborated with top experts in the field and researchers from top universities around the world, worked hands-on with hundreds of startups and released many critically acclaimed research reports that have been seen by millions of people.

We’re now working on taking Startup Science into the corporate context.

Our goal is to empower existing businesses that are struggling with developing an innovation pipeline that truly moves the needle. We aim to dramatically accelerate their capacity for innovation by introducing new management and governance frameworks that will enable them to successfully manage innovation.

The business management procedures, frameworks, and principles nearly all large corporations and their executives and managers have been trained to use contain critical missing pieces that inevitably strangle a majority of innovation efforts. This is not due to a lack of training or incompetence. Rather, the management science of entrepreneurship and innovation is just crystallizing from practitioners in the trenches and has only just begun to trickle into conventional academic and corporate training environments.

We’ve seen many multi-million dollar innovation consultancy projects start with a flourish of multi-stakeholder enthusiasm and optimism, yet struggle to deliver on the promise of generating new scalable products, services, and business lines and instituting a new company culture capable of driving continuous innovation due to a key set of common structural deficiencies and blind spots.

With Startup Science, we have developed clear, conceptual frameworks and tools to unify and contextualize conventional mainstream business management science, with the new entrepreneurial management science of innovation. To our awareness, Startup Science goes significantly above and beyond anything being currently offered in the marketplace, as we’ve synthesized and integrated many of the most essential ideas from disciplines and bodies of thought like Lean Startup, Business Model Innovation, Reinventing Organizations, Sustaining vs. Disruptive Innovation, Growth Hacking and Conscious Leadership Development. We believe what we’ve developed over the last decade contains essential codes, patterns, and processes needed for corporate innovation initiatives to jump to their next order of magnitude of effectiveness.

As a result, we are now seeking to find the right Senior Innovation Consultant to help us take Startup Science into the new domain of Corporate Innovation.

The Ideal Person for this role:

  • Has experience leading corporate innovation projects, internally or as a consultant, with skill in navigating its complex matrix organizations with functional and geographic silos, to get new ideas through systems that generally reject the unfamiliar.

  • Has the persistence, consistency and focus required to get complex projects over the finish line where there are many stakeholders involved.

  • Has a strong network in the corporate consulting world.

  • Is passionate about many of the following: startups, innovation, customer development, lean startups, agile development, growth hacking, reinventing organizations, teal organizations, leadership training, integral psychology and personal growth.

  • Is forward-thinking, open-minded, ambitious, driven, a systems thinker with high emotional intelligence, identifies as a cross-functional generalist, thrives with projects where they are given freedom and autonomy and can craft their own strategies in the midst of uncertainty.

  • Has an entrepreneurial nature and wants to play a central role in ushering in a new era of management science in the 21st century.

This person will have the opportunity to leverage many of the resources and assets of Startup Science and the Startup Genome Project including:

  • Our extensive network of startups, accelerators, mentors, and experts

  • A large email list for lead generation

  • The credibility of our existing brands and research reports

Our team will mentor you on the Startup Science system until you understand it thoroughly.

Compensation: This person will be getting in on the ground floor of a new company where there will be a small guaranteed salary and significant upside through revenue share in high ticket corporate consulting projects.
